Guccio returned to Florence, Italy and started his company in 1921. In 1937 he began producing leather goods. Within 50 years Gucci became one of the top fashion houses of the world!
During the year 2008, Gucci accumulated over 4.2 billion dollars world wide from their fashion revenue which placed them in the 41st position in BusinessWeek’s Top 100 Brands. Not only was Gucci placed in the 41st position on the chart, they are also known as Italy’s biggest selling fashion brand. They have over 278 stores worldwide and they sometimes outsource to expensive department stores such as Holt Renfrew.
